How can a company replace its ERP system under time pressure and across multiple countries? For NTT Group, the answer was NetSuite – with xperitus as their trusted partner.

About NTT Group

xperitus successfully implemented the NetSuite ERP system at NTT Group, a leading player in open transmission with operations across the Nordic region and Northern Europe. The company was founded in 1959 by Reinhard Dernberger and later taken over by his son Berndt. Its headquarters and main production facility are located in Mölndal, Sweden.

With around 180 employees and operations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Germany, and Finland, NTT Group delivers solutions within mechanical transmission – covering all aspects of power transmission for large machine builders as well as service units such as power plants and paper mills.

The Challenge – Time Pressure and System Complexity

When NTT Group faced the replacement of its legacy ERP system, the situation was urgent. The system was about to be phased out and had grown increasingly complex due to numerous add-on solutions.

“We were facing two main challenges. The first was the tight timeline. The second was the complexity of the existing system with all its side systems. So our major challenge was to find a supplier that could not only deliver the required services but also had the ability to understand our business and provide a solution within that narrow timeframe,” explains Anders Ericsson, CFO at NTT Group.

Why xperitus Was Chosen

Four different ERP vendors were evaluated, and at first glance, they all seemed similar. The decisive difference, however, was the people behind them.

“We needed a supplier who could not only provide the necessary services but also truly understand our specific business. Without a system provider that understood our operations, I believe it would have been much, much more difficult,” says Anders Ericsson.

Purchasing Manager Robert Bengtsson also highlights the collaboration: “There was a perfect connection right from the first meeting. They understood our vision and guided us through the entire process.”

Success Factors in the ERP Implementation

One key success factor was xperitus’ clear and transparent communication. “xperitus was able to clearly explain the system’s capabilities. Being able to say ‘no, that’s not possible, but we can do it this way instead’ – and then offer equivalent or, in many cases, even better solutions – was something we really appreciated,” says Anders Ericsson.

By combining expert knowledge with a pragmatic approach, xperitus created a solution that was both tailored and sustainable.

Other elements that contributed to success included structured project management, where a clear plan and regular checkpoints provided security and control throughout the journey. Flexibility also proved crucial – xperitus could adapt the solution to NTT Group’s specific processes without building unnecessary customizations. The engaged project team played an important role as well; their combination of technical expertise and business process understanding created an efficient and solution-oriented collaboration. Finally, the close working relationship was a major advantage, as xperitus took full responsibility for the dialogue with the previous system provider, thereby relieving NTT Group during a critical phase of the project.

The Result – Digitalizing Core Processes

The implementation resulted in a smooth transition from the old system with all its manual tasks and side solutions. Several of NTT Group’s core processes were fundamentally transformed. The quotation process, which had previously been managed entirely outside the ERP, is now fully integrated into NetSuite, giving the company better transparency and control in sales. Procurement has also been reshaped, moving from a supply-driven approach to one that starts with customer needs – a change that has reduced errors and increased efficiency. Warehouse management has improved as invoicing now takes place automatically at the time of delivery, while planning and searching for storage locations is significantly easier. On the finance side, the automation of supplier invoices has freed up valuable time and reduced administrative workload.

Looking Ahead

The project is seen as a major success, but the journey continues. NTT Group aims to leverage more of NetSuite’s functionality and bring the group’s remaining subsidiaries into the same system to gain a consolidated view of order volumes, turnover, inventory, and performance metrics.

“We’ve only scratched the surface of what NetSuite can do for us. With xperitus as our partner, we feel confident about continuing this journey. I look forward to our ongoing collaboration with xperitus as we bring the rest of the group companies into NetSuite,” concludes Anders Ericsson.
